Internet security is the broad term for the effort to regulate traffic on the public Internet so that agents (users or programs) can not perform actions that they are not allowed to perform, but can perform the actions that they are allowed to. Internet Security is a rapidly evolving field, as it must vigilantly keep pace with hackers and other malicious computer users who are constantly dreaming up new schemes to exploit security flaws.
For personal computer users, anti-virus software, spam filters, secure web browsers and personal firewalls are examples of security tools. For enterprises, network monitoring software, intrusion detection systems, encryption, PKI, and secure e-commerce software are methods of guaranteeing internet security.
