Internet Access - Links
Internet Access Options.   There are a variety of ways to access the internet. Most private users and businesses access the internet via a commercial Internet Service Provider (ISP), such as AOL or EarthLink. Dialup internet is an older technology that allows one to connect to the Internet using a traditional phone line and a computer modem. These connections are relatively slow and offer up to 56Kbs speed. Broadband is a newer technology that allows high speed internet connections from rates of 256KBs to 1.5 MBs and even higher. These connections typically are based on DSL (a technology that uses traditional phone lines) or cable modems (based on the same wires that cable providers use to transmit television signals).
