SCM Components.   The components of supply chain management can be classified as demand planning (forecasting), order promising (when can one promise a product to a customer taking account lead times and constraints), strategic network optimization (what plants and distriubtion channels should serve what markets for what products), production and distribution planning, and production scheduling.
The supply chain refers to the complex network of relationships that companies maintain with trading partners in the course of manufacturing and delivering products.
