Uninsured Coverage

After bodily injury coverage, property damage coverage is probably the next most important types of coverage in your auto insurance policy. That's because property damage coverage helps you pay for damages to another person's property (such as their car or home). Property damage coverage can also help protect you in the event of a related suit.

Most stated require you to have property damage coverage, but the limits can be as low as $20,000. If you are at fault in an accident, the costs can easily be much higher. For example, if you are at fault in an accident that totals somebody's new BMW 5-series, you may be at fault for $70,000. That leaves you making up the difference. It doesn't cost that much more to increase this to $100,000 or higher; the peace of mind of knowing you have that protection may well be worth it.
