Experian, formally known as TRW Information Systems & Services, is one of the "Big Three" leading credit reporting bureaus in the United States. Based in Orange, California, their credit reports are widely used by creditors, landlords, and other companies to obtain information on applicants for underwriting purposes. Experian provides consumers, businesses, and the public sector with information and analysis to help them make important decisions. Their Consumer Direct division specializes in working with individuals to give them access to their complete credit history and in 1996, they were the first company to offer consumers online access to their credit reports. Besides credit services, they also provide marketing services and their automotive division includes a National Vehicle Database with over 450 million vehicles.
