Online Bill Payment is a great new service increasingly offered by consumer banks. With online bill payment, you can log into your bank's website via the Internet and securely instruct your bank to write checks on a one-time or recurring basis, immediately or for the future (the recurring payment is particularly useful for mortgage, rent payments, or regular membership payments). The bank will try to electronically transfer funds from your account or, if that's not possible, the bank will actually print the check and send it through the mail, just like you would do. This is tremendously convenient and can even save you money on postage.
