When it comes to horror movies, I cannot get enough of them and while purusing the web I came across a really great site for horror movie reviews, www.fangoria.com. Checking the site out more, I realized just how much my friend Brian would love this site. There were even full length movies to watch online for free as well and tons of links to other great sites.

I have a standing reputation as being one of the more technological savvy members of my group of friends and I also take pride in my staying current with the entertainment industry as well. I am a big fan of going out to the movies, whether I am going alone, with my wife, or with some buddies of mine, but I just have not seen any movies that catch my eye, so I decided it was time to go online in search of the top ten websites for movie reviews, to see what I could find.

I like many different genres of movies and I guess it depends on who I am going to the theatre with that influences which kind of movie I really want to go watch. So during my research I decided to jot down the best websites for specific genres of movies. I figured this would be the best way to go about it, considering there are so many movies being released. There are a lot of review sites on the web as well, but when it comes to horror movie reviews, www.fangoria.com has the best.

C.S. Lewis said, “We read to know we are not alone.” Even in today’s fast-paced world of Twitter, Facebook, and wireless internet service, a good book is still a reassuring companion. But that internet can sure come in handy sometimes. Explore these sites in between sittings to improve your reading experience.1. The New York Times Books Section: This section includes the Sunday Book Review and the list of Bestsellers, along with regular reviews, excerpts, best-of lists, and more. This is also the place to find the reviews of renowned voices like Janet Maslin and Michiko Kakutani.2. Google Books: If you don’t mind reading your books online, visit this site for access to a wide variety of public domain works, along with excerpts of copyrighted materials.3. Book CloseOuts: BookCloseOuts.com serves North America as one of the “largest sellers of Bargain Books”meaning you can pick up unread copies of your favorite titles for next to nothing. Browse their extensive catalogue and see what you can find.4. GoodReads: Share reviews with online friends, catalogue what you’re reading, have read, and are planning on next, and even get the chance to preview new and unpublished works.5. Paperback Swap: List your old books that you don’t mind swapping with others. Once someone requests it, mail it out and pick a book from their current catalogue of almost 5,000,000 titles.6. Book Cover Archive: Ignore that old saw about not judging a book by its cover and admire the covers on this site, discuss them in their comments section, and then go out and read your favorites.7. Lulu: Self-publish for cheap with this print-on-demand service, or browse the wide selection available for sale.8. The Poetry Foundation: Search for poems by poet, category, occasion, title, first line, or glossary term. You can also just browse, or read thoughtful articles on poets and poetics.9. Nanowrimo: Every November, this site hosts a nationwide “contest” (although you’re not competing with anyone but yourself) to write a novel in a month. The name actually stands for “National Novel Writing Month.” A novel counts as 50,000 wordsapproximately 175 pages.10. Barnes & Noble: Find new books at great deals from the largest seller in the US. Nuff said.

Thomas Carlyle once wrote, “Music is the speech of angels.” If you want to hear what they’re saying, check out these music sites and let your listening pleasure soar.

Last.fm: Founded in 2007, this radio streaming site lets you create your own profile and then keeps track of what you listen to on your iPod, iTunes, and other digital media devices. Then, it recommends bands, songs, and free downloads.

Pitchfork: Only people who really love music could be so harsh to it. Read Pitchfork for well-written reviews putting down everybody’s favorite bandsand direction to some really good music you wouldn’t find any other way.

NPR Music: NPR brings its elegant style to the music industry, showcase up-and-coming artists and featuring hours of archived concerts, podcasts, and regular programming.

YouTube Symphony Orchestra: This experimental, interactive symphony called for musicians from all over the world to post a video of themselves playing a particular piece”Internet Symphony No. 1 Eroica” by Tan Dun. The videos were voted on, and the best were compiled into a video performance.

eMusic: The anti-Itunes, eMusic features largely independent artists (now with some major labels as well), no DRM-encoding, and an innovative pricing model in which you pay for a number of tracks rather than by song.

Metacritic: Like a Rotten Tomatoes for music, this site collates reviews from many different sources, converting them into a handy percentage. While you might not always agree with their methods, it’s handy for checking the reception of your favorite artist’s new record.

Amazon MP3: Falling somewhere in between iTunes and eMusic, Amazon MP3 features both major and independent artists, usually with huge savings. For example, you could get the new Arcade Fire album The Suburbs for 3.99 the week it came out.

The Live Music Archive: Performances by bands from the Grateful Dead to Death Cab for Cutie are posted here for free (and legal) download by fans, for fans.

Daytrotter: When the studio’s in season, this site posts three-to-four song sets by usually unknown talent, although they have featured legends like Carly Simon.

Little Steven’s Underground Garage: This site caters to those who prefer their music raw and loud, no matter what the era. The weekly radio show is hosted by Steven Van Zandt, who played with Springsteen and starred in The Sopranos.
